Caves ouvertes des vins du Valais
The Wine Cellar Open Days are an opportunity to get to know wine villages, wine cellars, the vintners and their wines free of charge. If a wine takes your fancy, you can buy or order it on the spot. Over 200 wine cellars throughout the canton open their doors and invite you to sample their wines. Discuss with the winemakers and learn to distinguish the subtleties of the different grape varieties. With over 50 recognised grape varieties on almost 5,000 hectares of cultivated land, Valais boasts a unique diversity of grape varieties. The best-known include Fendant (Chasselas), Petite Arvine, Heida (Païen or Savagnin Blanc), Cornalin, Humagne Rouge, Syrah and Pinot Noir. There’s a festive atmosphere in the wine villages during the open days with a musical and social programme. From 11:00 to 18:00, visitors stroll from one wine cellar to the next, use the shuttle bus service where available, or explore the vineyards on foot.
