Sentier du Cep à la Cime

This ten-kilometre educational trail reveals the many facets of the landscape of Chamoson and tells the story of the men and women who shaped it. The hike takes you through villages, vineyards, forests and along watercourses, and is an invitation to discover the cultural and natural heritage of Chamoson. It starts in the book village of St-Pierre-de-Clages, whose 11th-century Romanesque church with its octagonal tower in the style of Cluny is unique in Valais. The trail then leads to the rock walls of Haut-de-Cry and climbs along the Sizeranche into the vineyard terraces with views over the valley below, before heading to the edge of the forest to the Bisse du Poteu and along the Losentze stream towards Chamoson. The colourful stained-glass windows and mosaics by Edmond Bille are well worth the detour to Chamoson church before starting the descent from Trémazière along the vineyard path back to St-Pierre-de-Clages.
