Terraced Vineyard Trail

This popular circular trail stretches for just over seven kilometres and takes you from Martigny station to the medieval castle of La Bâtiaz. From the castle tower, you enjoy a 360° panoramic view over Martigny, the vineyard terraces and the valley floor. The trail continues through the vineyard terraces to the charming hamlet of Plan-Cerisier with its traditional chalets. One of these chalets is now home to Switzerland’s smallest museum, which regularly exhibits works by local artists. Information boards along the trail introduce visitors to wine culture. The steep hillside location combined with the excellent climate offer optimum conditions for good grape quality. As early as 1812 there were reports that the best Valais wine were produced in the vineyards of Martigny.
