Wine trail

The Wine Trail leads from Salgesch to Sierre and, as an educational wine trail, provides a wealth of information on the various grape varieties, the history and technology of viticulture, and the lives of the winegrowers who have shaped the landscape for many years. The eight-kilometre hike begins in Salgesch at the historic Zumofenhaus, which is home to the permanent exhibition of the Valais Wine Museum. Numerous historical viticulture-related items tell the story of the Valais winegrowers. The path takes you through the well-tended vineyard as well as through pristine nature around the wild Raspille Gorge at the beginning of the hike. At the end of the trail at the Château de Villa in Sierre, you can visit the temporary exhibitions of the Wine Museum. The restaurant in the château is known for its Valais specialities and houses the “Oenothèque du Villa”, the largest Valais wine cellar with over 650 Valais wines.
